NSVS OFFERS IN-HOUSE AND OUTREACH PROGRAMMES:

MONDAY

Start the day off with the popular class of Chair Exercise generously sponsored by our community partner HomeCare West. This class is designed to be fun and aerobic and is sure to get everyone off to a good start for the week! Please call our office to pre-register. Take a leisurely stroll with our Nordic Walking group sponsored by our community partner HomeCare West. This program is instructed by a certified professional and walking poles are provided. Refreshments are served after the walk. Finish off the day with this lively and memory-enhancing, stimulating game of Mahjong. Instruction is provided for all levels of play. Afternoon refreshments are served.

TUESDAY

Join us for a healthy lunch and Bridge. All levels of play welcome! Afternoon tea and goodies are served afterwards.

WEDNESDAY

Bring your iPad or laptop and questions for our morning Computer Help sessions. Our computer wiz Volunteer Student will help you with all your queries. Please call our office to pre-register. Join us for a healthy lunch, followed by a variety of board games, starting with Bingo and Scrabble.  All levels of play welcome!  Tea and goodies are served afterwards.  Our late afternoon program is a women’s Iranian group which meets for discussion and support.

THURSDAY

Join us mid-morning for our casual Walking Group along the beautiful seawalk. Join us back at the drop-in centre for our lively and memory-enhancing, stimulating game of Mahjong. Instruction is provided for all levels of play. Afternoon refreshments are served after the games.

FRIDAY

Join us for professional Yoga instruction with our Chair Yoga. Our instructor guides you through a seated program designed with your fitness needs in mind.

Seniors Outreach Resource Centre at Whole Foods Market, Park Royal

 

Whole Foods Market is a North Shore Volunteers, Community Partner.  We will have a display with community information at the Market which will be attended periodically by North Shore Volunteers for Seniors to assist seniors needing community information.  Information for seniors will be available such as:

  • Current North Shore pamphlets, booklets and handouts for Seniors issues
  • Affordable housing facilities
  • Current community senior events and on-going programs

For further assistance, one on one appointments may be established to come to North Shore Volunteers for Seniors for the following:

  • Assist in completing forms
  • Assist in setting up appointments
  • Faxing and phoning, food bank schedules etc.
  • Setting up volunteer positions
